Overview

Boavista enjoys a beautiful cliff-top location in the Western Algarve on a headland between Lagos and 3 kilometres (2 miles) north west of Praia da Luz, commanding magnificent views of the bay of Lagos, and the Monchique mountains in the distance. Set in the Boavista Resort, a 250-acre Residential and Leisure development.
Designed by Howard Swan, the course has been integrated into the existing natural terrain.
The course is in two distinct sections, the holes near to the entrance of Boavista Resort have been designed in a way to introduce rough off the fairway which are managed to the highest standards by the green-keeping staff for play all year round. Holes 5 to 12 have a more traditional and natural presentation as they are on an environmentally sensitive area.
The views from the 7th hole, the furthest extent of the golf course, take in the beach at Praia da Luz and all the way along to the headland at Sagres, the southern most point in continental Europe. Unfortunately the club house is isolated from the course but has a pleasant sun terrace and a bar that does snacks.
Update 04/07:
The club house is currently being re-built in a new location which is much more suitable to the course layout. Also these days most of the early fairways are flanked with villas which may be disconcerting for some.
