 Morgado
- One of Algarve's newest and longest, and one of our favourites. Opened in February of 2003, this course is situated about 15 Km north of Portimao. A nice new road is being built which when
finished will make access a lot easier. Expansive fairways and spacious greens include 104 bunkers and several water hazards in the form of small lakes and dams. One of the Algarve’s largest
courses (6,399m long) and designed in conjunction with the PGA. Golf director Jorge Papa expects the course to soon be hosting major championship events. A huge club house, very comfortable and
'airy'. Large bar serving meals and snacks. You can see about 80% of the course from the terrace which runs the length of the clubhouse. A second 18 hole course (Alamo) should be open by March
2006. Hopefully will report after the next trip. Directions: Take the road to the north from Portimão in the direction of Monchique and Silves and under the new A22 Motorway. From
the access roundabout of the A22 follow the signs to Monchique and Silves. After 1.1 kms take the well signposted left turn and drive a further 1.2 kms to the west where you take a right turn into
the Morgado Estate. Follow the road to the Club House.
